Job Summary:

The Ramp Operations Manager is responsible for establishing and overseeing safety policies, procedures, and working conditions that impact employees. This role involves managing the immediate work environment and the actions of all team members reporting to you. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring all safety policies and procedures are communicated effectively within your team. You will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities that promote a safe working environment while ensuring fast, efficient service. This role demands working in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines to achieve arrival and departure goals, and maintaining a consistently professional and positive image.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly safety meetings for all employees, without exception.

  • Perform flight audits, station audits, and "at risk" behavior audits.

  • Participate in monthly company safety conference calls.

  • Effectively communicate and instill safety awareness among all employees, including new hires.

  • Collaborate with the customer to assess manpower requirements for group movements, peak travel periods, out-of-scope requests, and flight schedule changes.

  • Oversee recruitment and placement efforts to ensure staffing levels meet operational needs and follow customer-provided standards and procedures.

  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including FAA, OSHA, EPA, US Department of Labor, and EEOC.

  • Investigate incidents of aircraft damage or employee injury, implementing corrective actions and participating in employee coaching as necessary.

  • Oversee any disciplinary actions, ensuring proper documentation and consistent application of policies.

  • Coordinate purchases for operational necessities and ensure an adequate supply of materials to meet customer standards.

  • Review final payroll and daily hours to ensure wages remain within budgetary limits.

  • Monitor and document operational irregularities, ensuring out-of-scope actions are approved accordingly.

  • Lead weekly meetings with leads and supervisors, daily briefings with GSE mechanics for equipment updates, and participate in team/customer shift briefings as required.

  • Ensure full compliance with uniform and appearance guidelines and inspect facilities daily, including supply rooms, storage, break rooms, and office areas.

  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports, including shift reports, incident reports, safety meeting minutes, employee evaluations, and work orders.

  • Investigate service failures, including chargeable delays and baggage/cargo/mail mishandling.

  • Administer operational plans for deicing, FOD, safety, winter operations, and baggage handling.

  • Complete personnel evaluations for supervisors, administrative assistants, and GSE mechanics.

  • Serve as the liaison with customer service, airport authorities, USPS, and customers.

  • Respond to and investigate concerns raised by the customer’s supervisory personnel.

  • Conduct routine visits to various authorities to address concerns and attend local airport tenant, security, and safety meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of ramp operations.

  • Minimum age of 18 and at least 6 months of basic computer experience; must be able to type at least 35 words per minute.

  • A four-year degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language fluently.

  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, outgoing personality, both in person and via phone.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check, and be free from disqualifying crimes.

  • Reliable transportation and availability to work weekends, holidays, and days off as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.
