Job Summary: The CIP Bay Attendant is responsible for the thorough cleaning and sanitization of dairy tankers in strict adherence to established procedures and guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:

Comply with operating procedures and safely operate clean in place (CIP) milk bulk tank wash systems 

Clean hoses, buckets and carts, hand rail of ladder, wash bay floor, around tanks, and handwashing sink

Respond promptly to any spills or accidents, cleaning and sanitizing affected areas

Organize and store a variety of supplies, tools, and hoses in designated areas

Use appropriate cleaning agents and equipment to sanitize surfaces, control panels, and equipment within the CIP control room

Use proper instrumentation during each step of the CIP Cycle, including rinsing

Perform regular cleaning and sanitizing of caustic tanks, fresh water tanks, and reclaim tanks

Complete confined space assessment for every tanker that is entered.

Conduct daily vehicle inspection of yard truck

Conduct swab testing on all tankers to assess and ensure cleanliness

Ensure that the information recorded in the seal log corresponds accurately with the details in the wash log

Operate a terminal tractor to maneuver tankers in and out of the CIP bay and park them in their designated areas on the yard 

Follow all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Juice Products Association (JPA) and OSHA standards for safety and tanker wash guidelines

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing duties, including the use of protective equipment to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications: 

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program

Basic understanding of food-grade tank trailer components and systems

Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest quality and work standards

Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions

Ability to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Ability to read and understand CIP operating manuals

Preferred:  

Entry level mechanical knowledge and experience

One (1) year related experience

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required for extended periods to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, ladders, walk on catwalk, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch or crawl, ability to enter and exit confined spaces through limited openings. Possess fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling valves, switches, and other cleaning equipment controls. Ability to lift and carry hoses, fittings, and cleaning equipment, often weighing up to 50 pounds.  

 

Chemical Handling: Must have capability to read hazardous labels, handle and use cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines and the ability to adhere to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage during chemical handling. 

 

Specific vision abilities required by the job include clear and accurate vision, with or without corrective lenses, for tasks such as reading gauges, inspecting equipment, and identifying potential contaminants. Hearing abilities adequate to respond to auditory signals, alarms, and communicate with team members.

 

Communication: Ability to speak with internal customers to determine the nature of the problem or to explain the work performed.  Ability to discuss work with other technicians or supervisors.  Ability to make self understood as well as be able to understand what others are saying.

 

Driving Skills: Proficient driving skills, including the ability to maneuver and operate the yard truck safely in tight spaces and have the ability to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment associated with coupling and decoupling trailers. 

 

Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed in both a wash bay and office environment, a light industrial environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to equipment.  Exposure to various climate conditions, fumes, dust, odors, oil/grease, and gasses.  Must be focused on safety and work with a variety of potentially harmful substances, and the high pressure wash equipment can pose dangers if not handled properly.  Must be safety conscious and willing to follow all safety rules at all times to protect themselves, their coworkers, and their customers.
