What is the Opportunity? 

The IT Training Officer is responsible for the design, development and delivery of Water Mission IT’s global internal training program. This position will work directly with subject matter experts to assess organization-wide developmental needs and ensure Water Mission has comprehensive, organized, and accessible internal training on technology, systems and systems functions, systems and IT associated processes, cybersecurity and general technology “how to use” instructions. This role will assist in crafting strategy and approach while also creating and delivering content. This position will report to the Chief Information Officer and can be based in Charleston, SC or remote.  

 

The Training Officer will work closely with IT and Water Mission staff to assess the training needs associated with all IT projects and newly implemented systems to provide training program analysis, design, content, materials, delivery, and evaluation as necessary, and will ensure that appropriate training program is developed according to needs of the project and associated schedule. The Training Officer will utilize existing learning management and content development technology to manage training development, delivery, and records for staff while actively maintaining awareness of new industry developments, technologies, and systems to provide quality training experiences that are appropriate to the learning context for all global staff.   

 

The Training Officer will also be responsible for maintaining IT information on SharePoint and other relevant internal and external information repositories.  

 

A successful IT Training Specialist will:

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings. 
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.
  • Work in conjunction with leadership and subject matter experts to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training strategies and solutions that meet Water Mission’s needs concerning IT solutions and services.
  • Increase the capabilities and development of new and current employees by crafting and delivering innovative, successful IT training programs.
  • Design, develop, and deliver IT training program for new hires as part of the global HR onboarding process (instructor-led and virtual) in collaboration with business systems owners as necessary.
  • Conduct organization-wide training and development needs assessment annually, or as needed, to meet ministry objectives and maintain a current and prioritized list of training content to be developed.
  • Partner with business leaders to address individual team capabilities and skill development needs concerning IT solutions and services and provide training within IT’s overall strategy
  • Select and manage resources, both internal and external, to assist in the development and delivery of IT training
  • Perform yearly training needs analysis to identify knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful implementation, deployment, and utilization of ministry technology.
  • Manage and deliver complex training projects and programs in a multicultural, international environment.
  • Develop content and training materials required for training including video, courses, documentation, and graphics.
  • Help with maintenance and updates of IT end user documentation, training materials, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage annual IT security compliance training for all Water Mission staff.
  • Provide training and support for onsite technology such as A/V technology and video conferencing systems for daily use and events.
  • Provide end-user support services as necessary.
  • Assist with forecasting income, expenses, and assets related to organizational IT training.
  • Collaborate with Water Mission staff as necessary to create, deliver, and manage all organizational IT training needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years in IT training development and delivery
  • Experience with Articulate 360, TechSmith Camtasia, or similar learning development tools
  • Experience Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Advanced Smartsheet user
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback in a constructive way
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to 3 consecutive weeks, 3-4 times a year
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Expeditious in completing tasks
  • Driven to achieving excellence 
  • Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
