Senior Business Leader, Used Serviceable Materials
SUMMARY:
This role is focused on managing the end-to-end asset lifecycle, including purchasing, teardown processes, valuation, and inventory logistics on a global scale. It involves directing personnel, promoting the company’s services at industry events, ensuring data integrity for parts standardization and interchangeability, and supporting executive leadership with additional responsibilities. All tasks are conducted in compliance with company policies and in collaboration with its subsidiaries.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for overall strategy and financial performance (revenue, profits, and inventory) for VSE and Kellstrom’s combined USM business which includes both engine and airframe components.
- Develop strategies and processes that maximize the value of USM and other rotable assets across VSE’s portfolio of businesses.
- Work closely with VSE’s MRO shops to utilize USM assets to support rotable exchanges and component teardown / cannibalization opportunities in addition to outright sales.
- Managing the acquisition of USM Material through:
- Acquisition of whole assets for part out or short-term lease to part out
- Establishment of consignment inventories with lessor, airline, and MRO partners
- Acquisition of inventory packages or individual inventory components in support of customer requirements
- The ideal candidate would be familiar with aircraft and engine lessor and leasing communities and comfortable with modeling whole engine and airframe asset purchase and teardown opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategies for managing the applicable repair activities associated with supporting a USM business. These repair management strategies should leverage the full set of component MRO capabilities in the VSE portfolio.
- Managing the sale of USM Material through the establishment of strong relationships with MROs and Airlines to become preferred supplier of USM material.
- Managing a team to include:
- Product line personnel responsible for 1) sourcing material, 2) analyzing potential acquisition/consignment opportunities, and 3) managing existing inventory (including repair decisions) to reduce/eliminate inventory obsolesce exposure and to maximize value realization.
- Records personnel responsible for assessing the full traceability of USM material and ensuring any inventory acquired or consigned to Kellstrom has required paperwork to ensure market acceptance.
- Sales/Customer Service personnel responsible for 1) maintaining customer relationships with key buyers, 2) responding to daily quote activity, 3) generating sales of USM material (either from inventory, consignments or brokering in the marketplace, and 4) Proving post-sale support to customers to ensure ultimate customer satisfaction.
- Working closely with the CEO, other Business Unit Leaders, and the Board of Directors on establishing the strategic direction of the USM business unit.
- Manages a team of 20-30 employees.
- Responsible for direction, coordination, and evaluation of these subordinates.
- Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, developing, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- 10 years sales, purchasing, product technical, supervisory and/or aviation related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical and financial concepts such as PBIT, ROI, etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
- Willing to travel to supplier locations and attend customer meetings as needed, with an estimated travel requirement of up to 20%.
