A Brief Overview:
The Costing Analyst is a key member of the finance team responsible for analyzing and managing plant-level costs to support efficient operations and financial decision-making. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing, operations, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost accounting, control, and reporting.
What you will do:
- Manage plant-level costs and controls, including cost accounting, bill of material audits, and cost variance analysis.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand operational issues and their financial impact while educating departments on cost drivers and variances.
- Support month-end closing processes and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Prepare and present cost-related reports on a monthly or as-needed basis.
- Work with the finance department to implement and maintain cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist the Controller in establishing and maintaining internal controls across operations, sales, engineering, and finance.
- Develop labour and overhead rates, budgets, and forecasts to align with financial goals.
- Conduct ad hoc product and plant cost analysis to support operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education Qualifications:
- B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
Experience Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in a cost accounting position within a manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to manufacturing departments, staff, activities, cost accounting, reporting, and variance analysis.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to support a cross-functional plant management team.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to prioritize objectives and duties.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound planning and organizational skills.
