Electrical Supervisor

Summary
The Electrical Supervisor will oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems, instrumentation and controls equipment. The Electrical Supervisor will ensure proper functioning of control systems and related electrical components by supervising a team of technicians while prioritizing safety and compliance with industry standards. This is a full-time exempt position. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and is located in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, assigning tasks, provide technical guidance, and evaluating performance.
- Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules for electrical and instrumentation systems, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance.
- Maintain equipment used to control the operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, and other plant equipment and systems.
- Diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation problems, identify root causes, and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Monitor the performance of control systems and instrumentation to identify potential issues and take corrective action.
- Enforce all safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work, conducting safety briefings and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Conduct quality checks on installations and repairs to ensure adherence to industry standards and project requirements.
- Able to work overtime when situations and emergencies arise.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3-5 years of recent experience as a supervisor performing maintenance and repair in central plant, power generation or other process plants.
- 5-10 years working in an industrial setting: Power Plant, Oil & Gas Refinery, Chemical Processing Plant, or Manufacturing Facility.
- Technical degree in an electrical/electronic discipline or vocational certificate in electrical/electronic discipline preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including control loops, PLC programming, and various measurement devices.
- Knowledge of plant operations in the energy & utilities industry with specific experience with utility power infrastructure or related field.
- Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and instrumentation issues.
- Proven experience leading and motivating a team of technicians.
- Commitment to safety protocols and practices related to electrical work and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
- Effective communication with engineers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel and other team members.
- Thorough understanding of 3 phase and 2 phase electrical systems.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge at reading process flow diagrams and control and instrumentation diagrams and interpreting manufacturer's manuals and drawings.
- Experience with electrical systems up to 13.2 KV.
- Experience with 125- and 250-volt DC systems.
- Familiar with CMMS programs.
Physical Requirements
- Must submit to company provided pre-employment drug screening and physical exam.
- Ability to hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle and be insurable by company’s vehicle insurance carrier.
- The job can be physically demanding involving movement of heavy equipment and carrying materials up and down stairs.
- Candidates should be able to lift and maneuver a 70-lb load.
