Payroll Administrator
Summary of Position:
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. This individual will coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider as well as responding to and resolving any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing bi-weekly, multi-state payrolls and maintaining all payroll related records for 1,500+ employees
- Process normal to complex payroll adjustments
- Process manual checks on a as needed basis
- Partner with departmental leadership across the organization to encourage time and attendance review and submission in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. Responsible for corporate compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns.
- Oversee the registration of employers with federal, state, and local authorities for all withholding and unemployment compensation taxes. Additional functions may include managing state registrations for business and sales tax.
- Partner with the Corporate Accountant and HR to ensure rewards and benefits are accurately reported in the accounting system.
- Monitor and analyze variances in payroll data and resolve any issues or errors.
- Provide effective communication and prompt responses to questions regarding payroll. Respond to and resolve inquiries from employees and the various tax agencies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare and distribute timely payroll reports.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required, college preferred
- 5+ Years of Experience in Payroll
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Works well in a fast-paced environment and deadline-oriented
- Resolves issues quickly and effectively
- Effectively communicates with management and peers
