Temporary - Technical Writer

 

Summary of Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for our products and services. This remote role is responsible for developing high-quality technical content, including operating procedures, user guides, API documentation, and training materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, an ability to translate complex concepts into easily understandable content, and a passion for improving user experience through documentation. This role is a temporary part time position, working remotely till the end of June 2025.

Key Responsibilities:


Content Development:
• Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including operating procedures, user manuals, installation guides, FAQs, API documentation, and release notes
• Work closely with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation
• Develop step-by-step instructions, diagrams, and visuals to enhance comprehension
• Write in a structured, modular format for reuse across different document types

Collaboration & Communication:
• Collaborate with developers, and subject matter experts to understand operating procedures and technical details
• Conduct interviews with engineers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information

Documentation Standards & Best Practices:
• Establish and use documentation style guides, templates, and best practices
• Optimize content for readability and accessibility

Technology & Tools:
• Manage documentation repositories using version control systems like Git
• Incorporate multimedia elements (screenshots, videos, diagrams) to improve documentation quality

Continuous Improvement:
• Gather feedback from users, support teams, and stakeholders to improve documentation
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and user assistance

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field
• 3-5+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in a software or technology-driven environment
• Experience documenting software products and operating procedures
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content
• Excellent grammar, spelling, and editing skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Meticulous in writing, editing, and reviewing documentation
• Eager to understand complex systems and processes
• Passionate about enhancing user experience through clear, structured documentation
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
• Able to adjust to evolving technology and shifting priorities
