About this role:
The Exhibitions Curator of the USGA Golf Museum and World Golf Hall of Fame is responsible for developing and planning exhibits, as well as leading historical content creation. This includes writing and design, as well as artifact selection and interpretation, to bring exhibits and stories to life in Liberty Corner and Pinehurst, as well as at USGA championships and other museums.
In addition, this role will collaborate with several Museum and Library teammates serving to support research activities and collections management. Their expertise will enhance the USGA’s credibility as the preeminent storytellers of golf history and elevate the visibility of the Museum and Hall of Fame around the world.
What you'll do:
Exhibitions
- Assist in the ideation and planning of all Museum and Hall of Fame exhibits, on-site and off-site
- Lead the development of all exhibits, including research, artifact selection, copy writing and design
- Create schedules and work plans to ensure clear and timely communication of deadlines to all relevant stakeholders
- Assist with the creation of marketing and promotional materials for Museum events and exhibits
- Build and maintain key relationships with donors, lenders, vendors and consultants related to exhibits
- Coordinate recap meetings, helping to identify successes, opportunities to improve and key learnings from each exhibit
- Support traveling exhibits at USGA championships
Content and Engagement
- Produce historical content for USGA digital channels, Golf Journal magazine and industry publications
- Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing teams on ideation and execution of history-related videos and social media posts
- Oversee the Museum’s website and social media channels, including planning, posting and maintenance
- Represent the Museum as a subject matter expert for media appearances, historical presentations and events
- Provide tours of USGA Golf Museum to visitors and VIP groups
- Assist the Library team with research requests, both internal and external
- Research, take notes and fact-check material for USGA speaking engagements, high-profile interviews and press releases
- Assist with management of the Museum and Hall of Fame collections, including care, handling, acquisition, display and shipping
Where you'll be:
- This role will be based at the USGA Golf Museum and Library on our campus in Liberty Corner, NJ.
What you bring:
- Bachelors degree, with an advanced degree in History, Museum Studies or similar field preferred
- 5+ years of Museum experience
- Expansive knowledge of golf and golf history strongly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong creative and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to work with a range of colleagues, clients and vendors
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate multiple projects concurrently
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with team members
- Flexibility to occasionally work on evenings and weekends
