Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Audience Strategy and Growth to lead our growth and audience development efforts. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a strategic mindset, innovative spirit, and a proven ability to drive audience growth and engagement through compelling content informed by data. This person will be comfortable managing a team, collaborating across departments, and balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Your expertise in crafting messages, developing stories, optimizing content for platforms and audiences will be crucial in effectively communicating our organization's mission and value to our diverse business audiences.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive audience strategies aligned with our organizational goals and mission.
- Lead a team of professionals, some direct reports, and others collaboratively in engaging all parts of our audience segments on all platforms.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to integrate audience-centric approaches across the organization.
- Leverage best practices to create engaging, informative content that resonates with our business audiences.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations for team members.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision making within the team.
Data-Driven Insights
- Oversee the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to uncover audience trends and behaviors.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights for content strategy, member and audience engagement, and event attendance.
- Help establish KPIs and metrics to measure the effectiveness of audience engagement and content initiatives and identify strategies that work and those that need attention (or sunsetting).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with colleagues in Communications and across the organization on strategies for messaging, timing, delivery, and more to accomplish goals.
- Advocate for audience-centric approaches across all organizational initiatives.
Channel Optimization
- Identify strategies to optimize audience engagement across digital platforms, events, publications, and other touchpoints.
- Implement innovative approaches to reach and engage target audiences through compelling content and messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in audience strategy, content development, or a related role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
- Proven track record of growing and engaging audiences, particularly in a newsroom or nonprofit sector
- Exceptional writing and editing skills and the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse business audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills and experience influencing stakeholders.
- Experience with audience segmentation, persona development, and content strategy.
- Proficiency in content management systems, data analysis tools, and marketing technologies
- Deep understanding of digital channels and emerging content platforms and an eagerness to experiment and lead change.
The salary range for this position is $138,091.00 to $180,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits including healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
