What you’ll do:
As a Fleet Safety Liaison, you will ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). Additionally, you will be responsible for assessment of fines for violations and will engage in problem-solving for agency/van operator performance issues. The Fleet Safety Liaison provides quality service to agents and van operators through all interactions.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of and complies with various regulations and policies, including UniGroup corporate safety policies, FMCSRs, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) commercial motor vehicle/driver Out-of-Service requirements, and Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) products and related federal regulations
- Supports UniGroup safety progressive discipline policies by identifying and assisting van operators and agents with safety infractions, including unsafe driving, late or improperly completed logs, falsified daily logs, and hours-of-service violations
- Conducts coaching calls and interventions with van operators and Agency Safety Representatives (ASRs) to educate and influence behaviors to limit future violations
- Monitors programs to improve compliance and safety performance
- Communicates with ELD vendor to resolve issues and concerns
- Communicates the importance of the FMCSA’s Safety initiative to agents, ensuring compliance and collaborating with them to improve their rating
- Addresses driver concerns from other departments regarding safety issues and provides appropriate feedback
- Works cross-functionally with team members and other departments to achieve shared goals
- Handles other assigned tasks to support the department
What you’ll bring:
- High School Diploma with 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in the transportation industry
- Excellent customer service skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- A natural curiosity for exploring details to uncover information needed to support van operators or agents effectively
- Patience and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful or high-pressure situations
