Community Relations & Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Pasco County, FL Corps, Port Richey, FL

Position Type: Regular Full-Time - 35 hours/week

Pay Range: $18.19 - $20.47/hour

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for planning, developing, maintaining and supporting activities to build and enhance The Salvation Army image and ministries within the community.

Key responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains a marketing plan.
• Coordinates resources and personnel for fundraising special events and activities.
• Assists the Corps Officer in cultivating and developing fruitful relationships with corporations, churches, civic groups, and other public entities.
•  Recruits, trains, coordinates, and directs volunteers.

What we are looking for in you:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related Business field, AND
• Three years progressively responsible experience in public relations developing and coordinating special events and media relations OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate the English language.
• Ability to speak before large groups in person, by radio and television.
• Ability to lead, motivate and evaluate the work efforts of volunteers.
• Ability to initiate projects and use sound judgement in concept assimilation and promotion.
• Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc.
• Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
• Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
