Day Camp Worker(Temporary)
Location: The Salvation Army Kroc Center, Biloxi, MS
About this opportunity:
Leads children activities at the RJKCCC day camp including arts and crafts activities, sports activities and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the day camp area.
Performs other related work as required. which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
- Develops and implements crafts and sporting activities which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities.
- Determines appropriate supplies and materials for lesson plans and recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
- Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.
- Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
- Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.
- Maintains the camp materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for any laundry, money and supplies necessary for camp programs.
- Cleans the kitchen, classrooms, tables, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
- Assists in leading children on field trips.
- Ensures the accountability, security and safety of children participating in camp activities and field trips; reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions.
- Performs other related work as required.
What we are looking for in you:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and two years’ experience teaching child development programs, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal camp environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Additional Information: Position is seasonal – May through July; 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
