The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Lead Store Clerk at the Foley Thrift Store for the Coastal Alabama Area Command.

 

About this opportunity:

Serves as lead worker to employees working in the Thrift Store. Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items. Trains employees in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining a cash register. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays. Ensures security of store items and the cash register. Collaborates with the supervisor to maintain awareness of daily and weekly sales goals; implements events to fulfill the goals. Assists in pricing and tagging items in the store. Assists customers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

  • Knowledge of effective customer service techniques
  • Ability to operate cash register, routine mathematical computations, and counting change

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and
  • One year progressively responsible experience working in a retail store or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather. Internal temperatures can be high with occasional discomforts associated with dust, noise, crowds, and the like.
