About this opportunity:
Responsible for the case management services offered to families through the Family First program. Manages and monitors assigned caseload of clients seeking social service assistance and/or participating in a life management program; supervises the day-to-day operations and staff providing social services and shelter services to homeless clients; provides social services offered by The Salvation Army; works with clients to develop goals and evaluates clients progress by conducting routine meetings with client and/or staff; serves as advocate for client in order to acquire services and skills that will enable them to move toward self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews, monitors, and implements program policy and procedures; administers program in compliance with budget constraints.
- Interviews applicants to determine eligibility for program enrollment based on established guidelines and requirements.
- Perform intake that includes required documentation for admission, referral needs, explanation of program and expectations.
- Conduct a written assessment on all potential applicants and their families within 72 hours of contact including screening for serious personal safety and mental health issues.
- Plans, directs, and supervises the work of assigned staff; trains and instructs employee in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides hiring/firing recommendations.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with advisory board and community agencies in order to make appropriate client referrals.
What we are looking for in you:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field; AND
- Three (3) years performing progressively responsible social service case management work, preferably with homeless clients; OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Travel to multiple service sites may be required.
