Baler
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Baler for the Family Store, located in Sherman, Texas.
Job Summary
Operates a baler machine to secure, package, and bind large volumes of clothing; loads and unloads trucks performing lifting of heavy objects on a regular basis; assists in maintaining the neatness and orderliness of the warehouse area; operates forklift to transport bale to storage truck; loads and fluffs clothes in the baler machine to secure a solid bale of clothing with wire; recycles cardboard boxes and cuts cardboard for use with the baler machine.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D., And One year experience driving a box truck preferred, Or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Certifications: Valid State Drivers License. Forklift Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.Ability to drive a box truck safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations. Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in a normal warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changed in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
