The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Health and Physical Education Instructor for the Peachcrest Boys and Girls Club, located in Decatur, GA .

Job Summary

Supervises & monitors the day-to-day activities of the Health & Physical Education Program; maintains all Health & Physical Education equipment and supplies; represents the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Atlanta in the community and builds a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of youth games, fitness and health and nutrition; Ability to plan, develop, facilitate, and supervise youth games, fitness, and health and nutrition activities; Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with youth; Ability to recruit, train and supervise volunteers; Ability to ensure the safety of youth participants; Ability to promote the Club and recruit youth participation; Ability to be organized, responsible and creative; Ability to be a results-oriented performer; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to use various sports equipment, footballs, baseballs, basketballs and soccer balls, etc..

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, And One (1) year experience working with youth development programs, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License, C.P.R. and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in a normal indoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
