The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Program Aide for Camp Hoblitzelle located in Midlothian, Texas.
Job Summary
Leads children and adult activities for camp programs, including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, Bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; maintains the cleanliness of the recreational and outdoor activities areas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development. Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to teach Christian values as well as general childhood education curriculum. Ability to plan, develop and implement effective educational programs and outdoor activities.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and One to two years’ experience teaching child development programs, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and Ability to pass all state licensing background checks. Certifications: Valid CDL – Class B (Preferred), CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain), Lifeguard Certification (preferred), Ropes Course Certification (preferred)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
