Job Summary
Supervises & monitors the day-to-day activities of the Health & Physical Education Program;
maintains all Health & Physical Education equipment and supplies; represents the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Atlanta in the community and builds a professional and positive image of The Salvation Army.

Essential Responsibilities
• Plans and organizes programs that are in line with the goals and objectives of the organization
and the program standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America;
• Plans and implements a program of team and individual sports, fitness, health and nutrition
activities; conducts, as appropriate, special programs/activities made available thru B&GCA;
• Monitors the H&PE activities; organizes activities and promotes participation in the activities
in order to encourage safety of the B&GCGA youth;
• Monitors and directs children’s behavior at all times to ensure compliance with B&GCGA rules;
• Plans and coordinates game times; prepares and posts a schedule/calendar of events;
• Assists medical personnel in conducting and follow-up on health and dental exams;
• Assists in the recruitment, selection and training of H&PE program volunteers, youth leaders and
staff;
• Directs and supervises the work of all volunteer, youth leaders and staff in the Program;
• Maintains accountability and inventory of all H&PE equipment, materials and supplies; recommends
and requisitions supplies and materials as approved; repairs equipment and performs daily
maintenance if needed;
• Prepares and submits all required reports on Program activities and attendance;
• Maintains thorough knowledge of all game rules and instructs participants in the same; instructs
participants in good sportsmanship;
• Prepares and submits all required reports on Program activities and attendance;
• Provides formal and informal guidance to individual youth at all times;
• Ensures age group and gender appropriate activities.
Other Responsibilities
• Assist with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children
at all times;
• Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions;
• Assists in preparing and providing field trips for children.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of youth games, fitness and health and nutrition;
Ability to plan, develop, facilitate, and supervise youth games, fitness, and health and nutrition
activities;

Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with youth; Ability to recruit, train
and supervise volunteers;
Ability to ensure the safety of youth participants;
Ability to promote the Club and recruit youth participation; Ability to be organized, responsible
and creative;
Ability to be a results-oriented performer;
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language;
Ability to use various sports equipment, footballs, baseballs, basketballs and soccer balls, etc..
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, And
One (1) year experience working with youth development programs, Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities.
Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License
C.P.R. and First Aid Certificaiton
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions. Ability to meet attendance requirements;
Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change
basis.
Work is performed in a normal indoor recreational environment where there may be physical
discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt,
and the like.
