Job Summary:
Receives, sorts, prices, packs, and distributes jewelry ensuring all items are processed in an efficient, effective and timely manner in accordance with established Salvation Army policies and procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
Sorting and Pricing Responsibilities
Receives, sorts, prices, packs, and distributes jewelry in accordance with established policies and procedures and productivity levels. Loads and unloads merchandise into carts for transporting to various areas. Sorts merchandise into designated categories based on type and condition of jewelry; separates damaged items to be discarded and/or sent to the baler. Cleans and polishes merchandise ensuring acceptable presentation for purchase. Researches price of various jewelry items; prices and tags jewelry based on type and condition.
Keeps abreast of price trends and store sales; ensures that items are fairly priced based on market prices and The Salvation Army standard procedures.
Packs items into boxes for storage, distribution to stores, or discards. Ensures that the sorting area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and that all equipment receives proper maintenance. Maintains a positive working atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner that will establish and promote a professional working relationship with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, co-workers, and management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to sort merchandise based on established categories. Knowledge, skills and ability to successfully communicate in the English language.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, and six months experience sorting and pricing merchandise in a retail environment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Moderate physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds of merchandise, materials, and supplies on a frequent basis. Must be able to push or pull loads, up to 25 pounds, of merchandise, materials, and supplies on an occasional basis. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and some climbing. Work is usually performed in a warehouse environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in the weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
