Building Maintenance Worker & Custodian
Location: Charlottesville Corps – Charlottesville, VA
Position Type: Temporary, Full-Time
Pay Range: $14.64 - $17.57
About this opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Office Manager, oversees the activities of custodial staff. Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Assists in reviewing, monitoring, and maintaining supplies and equipment belonging to the Facilities Department; monitors supply inventory.
- Reports to and consults with the Office Manager regarding facility use, equipment, and daily work activities; provides recommendations and feedback as it pertains to equipment, buildings and grounds in order to forecast future need and plan accordingly.
- Prepares buildings and grounds for scheduled meetings and events; assists staff as needed or requested during special events; performs housekeeping work; ensuring all facilities and grounds are clean.
- Performs basic security checks; monitors the facility and grounds for any signs of graffiti or vandalism, reporting such incidents to the Office Manager or Corps Officer. Performs minor repair on mechanical, electrical, utility equipment, and appliances.
What we are looking for in you:
- No formal education required;
- Two years’ experience supervising general housekeeping duties; OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read and communicate the English language. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing. Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
