Location:The Salvation Army – Tupelo, MS

Position Title: Store Clerk & Sorter

About this opportunity:

Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasingstore items; operatesand maintains a cash register; responds to customers questions; maintainsthe cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register. .

Receives, sorts, pricesand prepares donated items for display in the store; determinessuitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assistsin maintainingthe orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Responsibilities include:

Knowledgeof effective customer service techniques. Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic mathematics.  

Abilityto sort items in accordance withestablished categories. Ability to determinethe condition of items in accordance withestablished standards. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. 

What we are looking for in you:

HighSchool diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Abilityto meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operatea cash register. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operatinga vehicle.  

Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to communicate the English language.Physical ability to lift and carry and/orpush/pull moderately heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).  Moderate mobility:  dutiesare usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.  Distanceof travel is usually within the same building.  Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
