About this opportunity:
The Housing Manager is responsible for the administration, management and delivery of all residential services within the housing program. The Housing Manager reports to the Assistant Corps Officer. He/she is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the property and meeting the reasonable needs of residents ensuring compliance with The Salvation Army policy and procedures. The Manager also supervises, monitors, and directs all activities of the residential program to ensure efficient operation which includes the provision of housing, food, transportation, counseling, educational assistance, etc.; ensures program guidelines are followed by participants; ensures program compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations. The work of the Housing Manager directly impacts on the quality of life for residents in a shared living arrangement as well as the staff who work in a group living arrangement. The Housing Manager also has a dramatic impact on the health of the community as a whole and on community development initiatives, particularly for those businesses and organizations that provide services to TSA.
The Housing Manager works 12:00pm to 8:00pm, 37.5 hours a week. Holidays, additional shifts, and adjusted hours may be required based on business necessity.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervises, monitors and directs all activities of the residential program which ensure the appropriate satisfaction of participant needs with regard to housing, food, transportation, counseling, educational assistance, etc.; ensures all activities are conducted according to established legal guidelines and Salvation Army policy.
- Orients new residents to the program; prepares case records to facilitate case management; records daily statistics; collects, receipts, and processes program services fees.
- Ensures resident compliance with program rules; records incidents and notifies the Assistant Corps Officer of any special circumstances or unusual problems; ensures the security of the facilities and the residents.
- Counsel clients and provides assistance in locating permanent independent housing; provides appropriate referrals to other social service agencies in the community as needed.
- Provides crisis intervention through telephone interviews, resident appointments and/or residence visits; provides resident counseling were applicable.
- Supervises and participates in the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities; performs routine inspections to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Supervises and participates in the selection and purchasing of supplies; monitors expenditures ensuring compliance with budget constraints.
- Maintains an adequate level of supplies and furnishings inventory; prepares inventory records and ensures the accountability and security of inventory items.
- Coordinates the transportation of residents with appointments as needed.
- Prepares and maintains various logs, records, statistical reports, etc. reflecting program activities and occupancy level.
What we are looking for in you:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public.
- Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to think, concentrate and learn. Ability to perform mathematical calculations.Work is performed seated or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping, occasional lifting of light objects (less than 25lbs) and occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds may be necessary.
