Family Store Warehouse Supervisor
Location: The Salvation Army Dalton Corps- Chatsworth Family Store
About this opportunity:
Supervises and participates in the work performed by employees, beneficiaries and/or community service workers in the warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the Family Store remains adequately stocked.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as a lead worker to warehouse staff (employees, beneficiaries, and community service workers) and volunteers.
- Schedules and monitors their work; instructs and trains staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
- Responds to employees questions and assists in resolving operational and personnel problems.
- Ensures the work is performed in compliance with established standards, policies and procedures.
- Monitors the arrival and distribution of all donations ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner.
- Monitors the supply of items available in the warehouse in order to determine the areas needing additional stock.
- Inspects donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, food, etc.
- Supervises and participated in tagging items in the clothing area.
- Supervises and participates in hanging clothes on hangers and placing same on clothes racks.
- Supervises and participates in packing items in boxes; ensures that boxes and marked accordingly.
- Assists in transporting boxes to appropriate warehouse area.
- Coordinates the distribution of donations with the social services staff; ensures that all items distributed have appropriate approval.
- Supervises the packing of food bags for social service clients.
- Monitors delivery of food bags to social services daily.
- Contacts individuals and arranges for pick-ups related to food drive, clothing drives, etc.
- Picks-up large items with driver; assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed.
- Serves as liaison to kitchen and social services staff.
- Provides and delivers items needed from the warehouse, alerts kitchen of any food donations for immediate use.
- Maintains inventory of items in storage.
- Responds to requests from the Corps administration for furnishings, equipment and supplies.
- Discourages an unauthorized visitor in the warehouse area; reports any known entries after hours or missing items.
- Supervises and participates in the housekeeping duties; ensures that the warehouse area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
- Ensures the warehouse area is properly maintained and secured at all times; keeps the dock and storage area clean, organized and in conformance with generally accepted standards for safety and fire codes.
- Arranges for needed and authorized storage for Salvation Army units/groups; locks and unlocks storage areas for use by assigned individuals/groups for maintenance purposes (i.e. exterminator).
- Updates warehouse storage areas on chart.
- Prepares and submits daily statistical records.
- Prepares and distributes letters of appreciation to donors.
What we are looking for in you:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Three (3) years' experience performing warehouse work with at least six (6) months experience in a supervisory capacity
- Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- `Valid State Driver's License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building. Work is performed in a warehouse environment where their physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
