Custodian & Driver

Location: Leesburg Corps, Leesburg, Florida

Position Type: Regular Full-Time at 40 hours/week

Pay Range: $13.00 – $14.00/ Hour

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for driving a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities.  Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up food donations and deliver to The Salvation Army Food Services. Performs light non-skilled maintenance, runs essential errands, and helps ensure the neatness of the campus building and grounds.

Key responsibilities:

• Provides transportation for members to and from the Corps each Sunday.
• Picks up and empties trash as necessary, both inside and outside the building.

• Performs basic grounds maintenance.

• Picks up food donations.

• Performs transportation of materials and supplies between the warehouse and the office/store campus.

• Provides transportation for additional corps events as needed.

What we are looking for in you:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, and six months experience performing general custodian/janitorial duties, OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.

• Ability to spend the night away from home due to extended trips.

• Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work.

• Ability to lift objects that weigh up to 25 lbs. on a frequent basis.

•  Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.

• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.

• Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
