Family Store Regional Manager

About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for Manages and directs the Family Stores within the assigned region. Works with the local store managers to make sure that all policies and procedures are being followed in accordance to the NSC Divisional Family Store Guidelines. Works with the local store manager to make sure that the Family Store is profitable and is able to make regular appropriations to the local Corps.
Key responsibilities:
Plans, schedules, supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the work performed by Family Store supervisors and their staff; trains and instructs staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion in order to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; makes hiring and firing recommendations; conducts performance evaluations of supervisory personnel.
Prepares long range plans for the Family Stores based on guidance received through the Divisional Family Store Director; develops and maintains improved conditions and procedures with the organization in general and within the department in order to meet workload requirements.
Prepares and provides information for the operations portion of the budget based on guidance and instruction received; utilizes the approved budget to govern the operations of the department.
Continually reviews and analyzes the performance to determine effectiveness and take corrective action where necessary; develops performance standards and keeps the Director of Family Stores informed of significant facts concerning department operations. Visit each store within assigned region once every 2-3 weeks, completing a site visit which is submitted to the Divisional Family Store Director.
Maintains production and other statistical information to maintain awareness of the productive capacity available and to use this information to create sales projections and assist in short- and long-range planning.
Performs public relations functions regarding securing both donations as needed to increase awareness and understanding of The Salvation Army; participates in public appearances in order to promote The Salvation Army; stimulates materials procurement through improved solicitation methods.
Ensures knowledge, enforcement, documentation, and compliance with OSHA and wage and hour regulations. Ensures corrective actions are taken in a timely manner to maintain compliance.
What we are looking for in you:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of production control, planning, scheduling, and budgeting as it relates to family store, transportation, and warehouse operations.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel supervision.
Knowledge of materials handling equipment, including operations and maintenance requirements.
Knowledge of transportation equipment, its capabilities, and limitations, and dispatching including general practices.
Ability to prepare accurate and complete statistical, production, and sales records and reports.
Ability to develop, enforce, and improve standard operating procedures in order to maximize production and benefits of program operations.
Ability to train, motivate, and lead subordinate supervisory staff.
Ability to perform long range planning.
Ability to prepare operating budgets and to ensure expenditures are in compliance with budget restrictions.
Ability to build effective working relationships with businesses and other social service agencies in the community.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field,
And
Five years progressively responsible supervisory experience in retail management or family store operations,
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal office and family store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather.
Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
