As the Head Dining Hall Supervisor, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the success of our Dining Ministry, which serves hundreds of campers and staff daily. Partner with a professional food services team to create a welcoming and organized dining experience while gaining valuable skills and friendships that can shape your future career in culinary arts or leadership. 

You’ll guide and motivate a dedicated Dining Room support team, overseeing their training and preparation to ensure they shine in their roles. Under the mentorship of full-time staff, your responsibilities will include managing schedules, coordinating dining operations, supporting food service logistics, and upholding camp policies and mission.

Key responsibilities:  
  

Supervision and Guidance:   

  • Provides guidance and positive role modeling to staff and campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.   
  • Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example for staff and campers.   
  • Promotes and stimulates staff participation to enhance their overall camp experience.  
  • Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program, fostering an environment that aligns with the camp's mission and principles.   • Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to the spiritual growth and development of campers within the Christian camp community.    

   

Team Management:   

  • Coordinates and implements the daily schedule for assigned team members to ensure appropriate coverage and support. 
  • Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines, including local, state, and federal guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.   
  • Demonstrates effective team management and utilizes appropriate communication and supervision techniques as trained, when required.   
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of all food service program areas and equipment through daily inspections, addressing needed repairs or replacements, and conducting thorough initial and end-of-session inventories.  
  • Maintain optimal food service conditions through scheduled maintenance and cleaning as needed. Safely store equipment to maintain a secure and organized environment.  

 

Program & Activities Assistance:   

  • Participates enthusiastically as a team member in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events. When not in a leadership role, contributing to the maintenance of a lively learning environment and fostering engagement.  
  • Always promotes quality of programs and safety of campers in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.   
  • Engages in essential ministry duties, including sharing approved devotional content, participating in prayer sessions with campers, and participating in camp worship times. 
  • Sits with cabin tables during meals, as needed. Maintains a positive, relaxed atmosphere during mealtimes, encouraging conversation and camaraderie among staff and campers.  

  

Safety and Security:   

  • Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of campers during all camp activities.   
  • Reports all accidents to supervisors promptly and accurately, following camp procedures.   

  

What we are looking for in you:   

  • Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred.   
  • A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.   
  • Should be self-motivated and teachable.   
  • Prior knowledge and skills experience in food management, culinary arts, or service industry preferred. 
  • A willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.   

    

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:   

Some physical requirements of the Head Camp Dining Room Attendant position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate dining room equipment and activities are required.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available.  Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions

  • Camp Staff Leadership Training and Orientation will be held 05/28/2025 – 06/08/2025 and participation is required. The 2025 summer Camp program session will be held 06/09/2025 – 07/20/2025. If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
