Donation Attendant
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for Donation Attendant.
Job Summary
Receives, loads, stores, discards, and distributes donated items in Salvation Army Donation Center and trailers/trucks; responsible for all matters pertaining to the operations and security of the Donation Center while on duty; safeguards all donated materials and assigned equipment; ensures that all donated merchandise is accounted for, secured and processed in accordance with Salvation Army established policies and procedures; and maintains the Donation Center and surrounding area.
Interacts with all donors in a friendly and courteous manner. Advises donors of material which is not acceptable; receives and gives receipts for all donated materials; receives and loads donated merchandise into trailers and/or truck; organizes and packs neatly all donated merchandise onto the trailer; evaluates the donated merchandise and maintains the proper storage and protection of the donated merchandise.
Advises and informs supervisor of any issues and concerns including, but not limited to attempts or coercion by individuals to purchase items from the Donation Center, complaints, damages to Donation Center and any injuries occurring on or near the Donation Center; supervises beneficiaries working at the Donation Center, if applicable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to prepare accurate and complete donor receipts. Ability to interact with donors in a friendly and courteous manner. Ability to proper load, secure, and account for donated merchandise.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to successfully and effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in the English language. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies frequently. Ability to push or pull heavy (50-75 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies 50% of work time. Work requires frequent walking, sitting, twisting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and some climbing.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and other similar issues.
