Location:  Palm Beach Area Command/Lake Worth Corps – WPB, FL

Position Type:  Community Center Director – Regular Full Time

Pay Rate:  $23.26 p/h       

About this opportunity:

Opens/closes the Community Center in compliance with established operating hours; ensures the center is properly secured during non-operating hours.

 

Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of the Community Center; inspects facility on a regular basis to detect needed repairs in a timely manner; ensures that all center equipment is properly maintained and used by patrons in order to guarantee long life of equipment.

 

Researches, plans, develops, schedules, promotes, implements, and monitors recreational programs and activities for all age-groups based on the needs and interest of the local community.

 

Schedules, facilitates and/or supervises activities occurring at the center such as sporting events, craft classes, games, field trips, etc.; monitors activities hosted or conducted by outside groups.

 

Monitors all patrons visiting the Community Center to ensure compliance with rules and regulations and to ensure their safety.

 

Develops and implements fund-raising activities to generate funds for programs i.e. canteens and dispenser machines, etc.

 

Assists in preparing the Community Center's operational budget (advises Area Command of the needs of the gym and costs); monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget constraints.

 

What we are looking for in you:

Two-year college or technical school degree in Physical Education, Social Work or a related field,

 

and

 

Three years progressively responsible experience developing and implementing recreational programs with at least one year in a supervisory capacity,

 

or

 

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

 

Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

 

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
