Location:  The Southern Territory Headquarters – Atlanta, GA  

About this opportunity:

Drives The Salvation Army truck along the scheduled route to pick up donations; operates truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads, and unloads a variety of gifts, including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of vehicle and donations always; assists in performing work in the Thrift Store and sorting area.  In the absence of the regular store clerk, and as requested, assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers’ questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and cash register, assists with closeout procedures and assists in pricing.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • With one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large can for the driver position and experience working in a retail store, I was preferred for the store clerk position.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to perform strenuous heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects.

Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck.

Ability to perform frequent walking and standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.

Work requires driving a vehicle exposed to the outdoors, where physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, such as rain, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, can occur.
