Pay Range:         $59,000 - $67,000

About this opportunity:

The Shelter Program Manager I manages all CVAC emergency shelter services for persons experiencing homelessness, which includes a year-round housing first shelter program and a nightly inclement weather shelter program. The Shelter Program Manager oversees all staff and supporting functions. This includes supervising, monitoring, and evaluating program effectiveness, employee performance, dining services, shelter admissions, and case management. He/she monitors day-to-day program operations as well as the maintenance and cleanliness of buildings and grounds. Assists shelter residents to develop goal plans and secure permanent housing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates Salvation Army services that enable persons experiencing homelessness to secure permanent housing and to maintain housing stability thereafter.
  • Leads a continuous improvement process to assess program outcomes, track quality indicators, and promote a positive resident experience. Identifies ways to strengthen program services and results. 
  • Conducts regular meetings with caseworkers to assess residents’ progress, troubleshoot difficult resident issues; provides feedback and guidance to promote caseworker success.
  • Supervises the storage, tracking, and purchasing of supplies; monitors expenditures ensuring compliance with budget constraints.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services or related field; AND
  • Two years of social services experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity; OR
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and one year of social services experience.
  • LPC highly desirable

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are performed seated or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Occasional lifting of light objects (less than 25 lbs) and occasional lifting of objects weighing 25 to 50 pounds is necessary. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
