Job Summary: 

Plan, develop, and oversee the activitiesand staffingof the aquaticsand sportsprograms ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is a top priority in all areas and activities.  Ensure that the aquatics and sports programs are in compliance withestablishedNational Kroc Center Standards anddepartmental policies and procedures.Ensure maintenance is scheduled foraquaticsand sports equipment and facilitiesWork closely with the supervisor and other program leadersin developing programs for the TSARJKCCC based upon ongoing needs assessment, community trendsand business plan.

Program Development (40%) 

Plan, develop, and oversee the activities of aquaticsand sportsprograms keeping the four priorities (art, education, recreation, worship) central to the whole of the programmingEnsure that programs includeevery age, gender, ethnicity, disabilitydemographic. 

 

Develop, cultivate and maintain partnerships and communication with other aquaticsand sportsprogram leadersin the communityin effort to maximizeKroc Centerofferings.  

 

Create schedules and concepts for programs on a timelybasis for use in marketing and distribution. 

 

Create the event and program schedule to be included in programguide. 

 

Analyze market trends and community sports/aquatics needs; recommends, developsand implements programs (clinics, lessons, leagues, games, hosting opportunities) for implementation at the Kroc Center while maximizing resources and ensuring logisticsare organized. 

 

Staff Management (40%) 

Supervise employees, volunteers, and participants. 

 

Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and directly supervise aquaticsand aquaticsstaffMaintaindetailed records of proper certification of staff. 

 

Research, prepare and deliver in-service training sessions to maintainongoing training, education, and best practices. 

 

Prepare staff schedules; using the Ceridiansystem and check for timecard accuracy each pay period  

 

Ensure that staff istrained and scheduled to maintaincleanliness in the facility. 

 

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all instructors, volunteers, and participants. 

 

Facility Maintenance/Office Tasks (20%) 

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program and its facilities including the daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance of the pool, slide, splashpark, and pool decks. 

 

Positionwill serve as a daytime, eveningor weekend manager for the entire facility along with the rest of the full-time professional staffThis includes “Manager on Duty” responsibilities. 

 

Establish and maintainan equipment check program. This program will include safety checks before and after each use.  

 

Maintain a detailed inventory of all equipment and supplies.   

 

Prepare a draft budget, recommendsand monitorsexpenditures as it pertains to the aquaticsand sportsprogram. 

 

Works with development colleagues and supervisor in acquiringfunding resources and helps in providing information and data for grant writing; researchesadditionalfundraising opportunities; supports major fundraising events, as requested. 

 

Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Other Responsibilities: 

Prepare reports as assigned and maintainfiles as directed by the supervisor. 

 

Implement the plans set forth by the supervisor in accordance withNational Kroc Center Standards and Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. 

 

Be able to operateand generally maintainall office equipment.  This would include, but is not limited tothe copier, fax machine and computers. 

 

Maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinatestaff - Interact professionally in all contact with the public, staff, and Salvation Army Officers. 

 

Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Armymission. 

 

Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving. 

 

Provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work.

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities: 

 

Possess a good understanding of current laws in regards toaquatics programs and keep current with new changes that will affect the aquatics program. 

 

Ability to plan, organizes, and prioritizeswork in order toaccomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines, and departmental policies and procedures. 

 

Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulnesswithin and among staff. 

 

Have an essential proficiencywith Windows & Microsoft Office, which includes Microsoft Word and Excel. 

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. 

 

Ability to drive Salvation Army Vehicles in a safe manner. 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

 

Education and Experience: 

Four Year Degree in related field  

 

and  

 

Twoyears of experience supervising and/or developing an aquatics and/or sports program 

 

or 

 

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which demonstratesthe required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

 

 

Certifications: 

Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor    

Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor  

Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer  

Red Cross Certified Lifeguard 

Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructor 

First Aid & CPR w/ AED Certification ( orthe ability to obtain within established time frame ) 

Certified Pool Operator 

 

 

Valid State Driver’sLicense 

 

Physical Requirements: 

 

May be requiredto do minor maintenance on aquatics equipment. 

Working Conditions: 

Work is performed in an environment where there may be a little physical discomfortsassociated with changes in temperature, pool chemicals as well as discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
