Position Type: Overnight Residential - Temporary Full-Time
Pay Rate: 275.00 weekly.
About this opportunity:
Plans, schedules, instructs, supervises, and monitors the day-to-day general housekeeping of the camp facilities; ensures all rooms and offices are well maintained and cleaned; ensures all housekeeping equipment remains in proper working order and in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; maintains an inventory of all Salvation Army cleaning supplies. Leads other camp housekeepers in the proper methods and procedures for performing housekeeping work; cleans bedrooms, washes, stores and distributes linens; ensures the cleanliness of the camp daily.
Key responsibilities:
- Plans, schedules, assign, and supervises the work of housekeeping personnel; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Inspects and cleans buildings and grounds daily to ensure the floors, walls, stairwells, walkways, halls, windows, bathrooms, offices, trash cans, etc. are clean and well maintained.
- Reports maintenance problems and repairs to Camp Manager.
- Supervises and monitors the washing and drying of linens and/or donated clothing; Reports needed repairs for washers and dryers.
- Stocks and maintains inventory of all linens, towels, janitorial supplies, etc.
- Maintains an adequate and organized inventory of housekeeping supplies; orders needed supplies and materials in accordance with policy; retrieves supplies from the warehouse and distributes supplies to appropriate departments.
- Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
- Sits with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed.
- Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection.
- May drive Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up housekeeping supplies or items.
- Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for in you:
- Three years’ experience performing housekeeping work with at least one year lead worker or supervisory experience preferred, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information:
Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 9 – June 15, 2025, and participation is required. The 2025 summer Camp program session will be held June 16 - July 19, 2025. If you are unable to work the entire session, please let us know on your application.
