About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Children’s Services in leading, planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring the day-to-day operations of The Salvation Army Sallie House which provides professional and stable placement for children in crisis. This position implements and evaluates program operations and services; supervises all program staff and ensures work follows established policies and procedures with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as contractual obligations.
Key responsibilities:
- Working with the Director of Children’s Services, directs and evaluates a program of stable care of children within the limits of The Salvation Army policy and within the guidelines of licensing, accrediting, and funding organizations; ensures all licensing, accreditation, grant, and contractual obligations are met; interprets and instructs staff on established guidelines.
- Supervises, monitors, and evaluates the work of all program staff responsible for providing children’s services; instructs and trains employees in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work; monitors work in process and upon completion for compliance with established program policies and procedures.
- Assists Director in conducting performance evaluations; makes salary and hiring/firing recommendations; assists employees with professional goal setting and measures outcome of same; ensures employees and relevant volunteers achieve minimum hours of in-service training as required by regulation or contract.
- Compiles and submits records, reports, and documentation as scheduled and directed by the referral sources and/or contract guidelines.
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and four years progressively responsible experience administering and developing social service programs, AND
- Three years progressively responsible experience administering and developing social service programs, OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must be cleared by Local Law Enforcement, State of Florida Dept of Children and Families, and FBI background screens.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal child care/home environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work is often outside in playgrounds, courtyards, parks, beaches, pools, etc.
Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or changes in weather.
