JOB SUMMARY:

 

Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of employee and volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same; drives Salvation Army vehicle to drive kettle workers to and from locations and/or pick up kettles.

Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.

 

Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.

 

Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.

 

Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.

 

Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.

 

Meets with community leaders and organizations and discusses Salvation Army needs.

 

Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.

 

Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs work for special projects as needed.

 

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

High School or G.E.D.

 

and

 

one year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred.

 

or

 

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Valid Driver’s License

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.

 

Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.

 

Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.

 

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers and staff.

 

Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff.

 

Ability to maintain volunteer and financial database.

 

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

 

Duties include extensive driving to and from kettle locations 50-75% of work time.

 

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying equipment (less than 40 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work is performed in and out of the office and in a wide variety of weather conditions.  Dressing appropriately is important for remaining safe and comfortable.
