About this opportunity:

Plans, promotes, and coordinates mobile outreach services; operates and ensures proper maintenance of the Salvation Army mobile outreach vehicles including mobile shower units and canteens. Strategically schedules, hosts, and participates in mobile outreach events to provide the most conducive and positive impact for supporting programs. Ensures sufficient supplies for respective mobile outreach units and events. Arranges for cleaning and proper sanitation of mobile units and supplies. Prepares and maintains logs, reports, and data for events, volunteers, vehicle maintenance and use, and other necessary information.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates and serves as primary liaison with capital campaign consultants. Plans, promotes, coordinates, and participates in mobile outreach services, including feeding programs.
  • Operates and ensures proper maintenance of the Salvation Army mobile outreach vehicles including canteen and mobile shower unit trailer.
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with the community and volunteers.
  • Strategically schedules, hosts, and participates in mobile outreach events to provide the most conducive and positive service impact for supporting programs.
  • Collaborates with respective staff regarding volunteer opportunities.
  • Trains volunteers on providing mobile outreach events and services.
  • Plans, hosts, and participates in welcoming and orderly events, ensuring clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Loads supplies, drives outreach vehicles to and from events, as well as set up and break down mobile outreach units.
  • Prepares and maintains logs, reports, and data for events, volunteers, vehicle maintenance and use, and other necessary information.
  • Provides briefings and feedback on services provided, clients served, client feedback and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintains a calendar of upcoming mobile outreach events and activities.
  • Ensures sufficient supplies for respective mobile outreach vehicles and events.
  • Arranges for cleaning, proper sanitation, and maintenance of mobile outreach vehicles and supplies.
  • Properly maintain logs for the mobile outreach vehicles mileage, hours, and systems.
  • Inform of any maintenance due or any issues relating to proper operation of mobile outreach vehicles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • Two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, with one year experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public, And
  • At least 1 year experience towing a trailer, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must meet legal age and driving requirements for operating mobile outreach vehicles

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Ability to travel to various locations to develop personal relationships with donors. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
