The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Warehouse Worker for the Huntsville, AL Thrift Store.

Job Summary:  Receives, receipts, sorts, prices and prepares donated items in a store warehouse environment; prepares for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; participates in unloading trucks and ensures all unloaded items are processed and placed in the warehouse in accordance with established policies and procedures; assists in moving furniture to the sales floor; maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the loading/unloading areas, warehouse, dock, and parking lot.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Ability to sort items in accordance with established categories.  Ability to determine the condition of items in accordance with established standards.  Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Experience and Education:  No formal education or experience required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Ability to meet attendance requirements.  Ability to communicate in the English language.  Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy objects (50 - 100+ lbs.) in order to accomplish primary functions.  Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting in order to fulfill primary functions.  Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
