Case Aide (Night Shift)
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Case Aide (Night Shift) at the Mabee Center, located in Fort Worth, TX.
Job Summary:
Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential substance abuse treatmentenvironment;performs crisis intervention counseling when needed; works with individuals and groups to develop life management skills; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization; reports pertinent information to the Director of Social Services.

Essential Functions:

Intake and Discharge Responsibilities (30%)
Prepares and distributes meal tickets, laundry tokens, towels, linens, clothing, and personal hygiene items; maintainsaccuraterecords of items dispensed; collects and inventories all dirtytowels and sheets from clients; observesclients for safety, healthand risk potentials.
Inputsclient and program records into HMIS system.
Conducts discharge of clients according to program procedures.
Monitoring Responsibilities (60%)
Monitors daily activities and ensures client program participation; ensures the safety, cleanliness, and orderliness of program environment; ensures clients maintainappropriate attireand personal hygiene; observesclients for safety, healthand risk potentials.
Administers breathalyzer tests and urinalysis tests to program clients; administers sexual offender checks as needed.
Communicates with members of the clients’ treatment team as may be requested for purposes of providing additionalclient information; communicates all major incidents to clinical supervisor and primary counselor in writing and orally; facilities ongoing information exchange.
Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiatesappropriate correctiveactions in accordance withestablished policies and procedures; provides necessary crisis intervention; ensures 24-hour monitoring ofclients; informs Director of Social Servicesof special problems, needs, etc.
Works with individuals and groups as needed to enhance social skills and the ability to enjoy and function within a group living situation.
Inspects program area daily; provides individual instruction or correction to clients regardingproper use of the facility as needed; reports damage or other maintenance needs to Program Manager.
Periodically monitorsbed assignments; wakes up clients at designated time and instructs them to collect their sheets; ensures that all residents are out of the facility by the designated time; distributes client luggage.
Transports clients to and from parole, medical, dental, and mental health appointments.
Assistsin serving client’s meals.
Assigns housekeeping and other tasks to residents; ensures that clients perform assigned houseduties in the proper manner; ensures compliance with house rules and regulations.
Administrative Responsibilities (10%)
Completes required paperwork representing client intake for the day; inputs data into the computer in order to maintain computer records and generate client lists.
Maintains client and program records daily; submitsrequired reports and statistics; prepares written incident reports.
Documents and monitors clientsself-administration of medication as prescribed and in accordance withShelter Care policies and procedures.
Distributes written communication and documentation to clinical staff.
Performs data entry and light typing as required.
Other Responsibilities:
Prepares work passes for clients.
Participates in required continuing educational programs.
Maintains inventory of office, cleaning, and other necessary supplies; requisitions suppliesthrough Program Manageras needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Materials and Equipment:
Personal Computer General Office Equipment Diagnostic Breathalyzer
Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:
Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures.
Knowledge of individual and group counseling as well as crisis intervention techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.
Ability to maintainthe security and confidentiality of client records.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
Ability to serve as a role model with physical and emotional health adequate to meet the demands of the position.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Educationand Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required,
and
One year experience performing security or social service work preferred,
or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid State Driver’s License(Preferred)
Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtainwithin established timeframe)
CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtainwithin established timeframe)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicatethe English language effectively.
Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintainingcontrol and initiatingthe propercorrective action.
Ability to drive a vehicle safely and in accordance withall laws and regulations.
Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance withthe ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
Limited amount of physical effort requiredassociated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal shelter environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changedin weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
