Sorting Room Supervisor-Thrift Store Department
Location: Daytona Beach Corps – Daytona Beach, Florida
Position Type: Part-Time
Pay Range: $13.50 - $14.00
About this opportunity:
Supervises and participates in the work performed by employees and community service workers in the Sorting Room/Warehouse; ensures that all donated items are processed through the warehouse in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards; ensures the thrift store remains adequately stocked.
Supervises warehouse staff (employees, beneficiaries and community service workers) and volunteers; schedules, monitors, and evaluate their work; instructs and trains staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness; responds to employees questions and assists in resolving operational and personnel problems; ensures the work is performed in compliance with established standards, policies and procedures. Conducts performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitors the arrival and distribution of all donations ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner.
- Participates in the inspection of donated items in order to help determining the appropriate price; inspects appliances to ensure they are in proper working order; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists in loading and unloading trucks as needed; supervises the loading of the rag truck Assists
- Ensures the warehouse area is properly maintained and secured at all times; keeps the dock and storage area clean, organized and in conformance with generally accepted standards for safety and fire codes.
What we are looking for in you:
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience working in a retail store environment with at least one year experience in a supervisory capacity.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling or squatting.
- Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects up to 50 lbs regularly and greater than 50 lbs occasionally
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
