Senior Building Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Territorial Headquarters, Atlanta, GA
About this opportunity:
This position is responsible performing a variety of skilled maintenance, repair, and renovation work for all Territorial Headquarters physical assets with primary responsibilities associated with officers' quarters; performs technical repair work including HVAC support, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and other routine maintenance and repairs; ensures all repair work is conducted in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities:
- Performs skilled maintenance and repair work throughout the Territorial Headquarters' building, grounds, and officers' quarters including HVAC support, plumbing, electrical, construction, and other routine repair work; ensures all repair work is completed in compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures work is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Purchases the necessary materials to complete the approved maintenance and repair work; records and maintains appropriate expenditure records according to The Salvation Army policy; Lifts, carries, hauls, and delivers items between designated destinations
- Communicates and explains maintenance and repairs desired/needed with officers relating to work requirements on their quarters; contacts and schedules desired work with officers; maintains an appropriate level of courtesy and sensitivity for completing the work according to the officers’ requested schedule; ensures the quality and completeness of the work is in compliance with established standards and procedures.
What we are looking for in you:
- Associate degree from a licensed and accredited vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air condition, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades or Trade School License, AND
- Five years of progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds. OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift heavy (50-100 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Heavy mobility: duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal office or home environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures and driving a vehicle.
