The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Thrift Store Manager for the Foley Thrift Store in Foley, Alabama

 

About this opportunity:

Manages the day-to-day Family Store operations which include staffing, facilities, and processes related to donation intake and pick up; donation processing, pricing, presentation for final sale, and point of sale. Manages stock in keeping fresh stock on the sales floor; remove stale stock in accordance with the stock rotation system. Analyzes store sales. Plans special sales events to promote sales within store.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of production control, planning, scheduling, and budgeting as it relates to thrift store, transportation, and warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of effective and efficient techniques for producing and sustaining profit over a long period of time.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete store sales and deposit records.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain attractive merchandise displays.

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. with one-year equivalent college coursework in business, finance, or similar field and
  • Two years successful experience working in a field where producing and sustaining profit is a requirement, with at least one year experience in a supervisory capacity,
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Forklift License Preferred

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Some work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Some work is performed in a normal store environment where there are normally little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather, but where indoor temperatures are often higher than normal. Work may require driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, or heat.
