The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for a Social Service Clerk for our Center of Hope Shelter, located in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.

 

Job Summary:

 

Ability to organize, handle paperwork flow, and communication necessary for an administrative office. Aptitude to handle, with patience & courtesy difficult situations dealing with public.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy.

Ability to work cooperatively with directors and staff of other agencies.

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.

Knowledge of effective and efficient record keeping practices and procedures.

Knowledge of basic mathematics.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration.

Ability to exert mental/visual effort required due to sustained periods of concentration.

Ability to deal with clients who may be frustrated or distraught.

Ability to organize, meet deadlines and follow-up with assignments.

Ability to greet and welcome clients.

Excellent telephone and communication skills.

Knowledge and proficiency in Windows environment, using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to concentrate in a disruptive environment.

Ability to move from office setting to disaster assistance center setting.

Education and Experience:

 

HS Diploma or GED AND one-year experience performing job related responsibilities preferred OR any equivalent demonstration of training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Certifications:

None.

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Working Conditions:

 

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
