The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Recreation League Assistant (part-time) for the Kentucky – Tennessee Territory, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
Job Summary
Assist the Recreation Department in the implementation and coordination of gym activity, leagues and programming. The Recreation League Assistant will assist in organizing, planning, and coordinating Recreational activities as directed by the Recreation Coordinator. This may require preparation or cleaning of equipment and facilities for various sports such as soccer, flag football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, pickleball and other sporting activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of the coordination of personnel.
Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulness within and among staff.
Ability to plan and complete work in a manner to ensure compliance with deadlines.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Fitness, Health and Fitness, Exercise and Fitness, Sports Management, Sports Psychology or other equivalent degree;
-And-
Two years of experience working in a gymnasium and/or sports league setting.
-Or-
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility; duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
Ability to plan work priorities, evaluate work performances and provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work.
Maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinate staff.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.
