Food Pantry Worker

Location:  HUNTINGTON CORP.

    Part time

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for:

Custodian

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.

Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, and buff floors; sweeps sidewalks.

Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.

Cleans kitchen and dining area; washes dishes; cleans and defrosts refrigerator; cleans stoves and ovens. Stocks and sorts pantry items. Empties trash cans regularly; collects trash from grounds.

 

Corp Worker

Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.

 

Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting; sorts and processes items for rag truck and loads rag truck, discards items in accordance with established procedures. 

Monitors expiration dates on all food in the pantry; discards outdated or damaged food.

 

Receives and processes donated food items and shoes; obtains needed food items from the kitchen and canteen as needed; obtains shoes from the warehouse as needed; maintains inventory records of the same.

 

What we are looking for in you:

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Ability to maintain an adequate inventory of food and commodities to meet the needs of the program.

Ability to operate General Office Equipment  

Ability to plan and coordinate the distribution of food and commodities to the public.

 

Ability to perform general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds.

 

Knowledge of the Equipment & Tools 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

High School diploma or G.E.D., and Valid State Driver’s License preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language is required.

 Physical ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (up to 75 lbs.).

 Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing and heavy lifting.
