About this opportunity:
Provides well-organized, efficient, and effective client assistance system for The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter for Women and Children which will provide initial and ongoing assistance to clients in residence. Responsible for the coordination and monitoring of operations and activities including enforcing shelter policies and procedures, maintaining housekeeping standards, coordinating of volunteers, maintaining chore assignments and follow-up.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitor hallways, dormitories, bathrooms, and day rooms during shifts. Monitor the cafeteria during meals.
- Maintain bed assignments of residents. Complete batch sheets.
- Assist clients with personal needs as requested.
- Greet group facilitators and provide information/supplies needed to complete sessions.
- Maintain and enforce chore assignments for all residents.
- Enforce housekeeping standards with residents.
- Ensure that the clients adhere to all policies and procedures of the program. Notify Social Work staff when clients violate policies and procedures. Exercise discretion in enforcing rules. Write up clients on rule violations
- Assist with the personal needs of clients. Relay client issues and concerns to the Director/Case Manager.
- Answer all incoming telephone calls. Take phone messages for staff and or the residents.
- Adhere to the strictest professional confidentiality.
- Assist in the conservation of all Salvation Army resources.
- Abide by all Salvation Army policies and/or procedures.
- Monitor supplies and make recommendations for reorders.
- Be willing to assist in any other duties or special assignments as may be required by the
- Director/Case Manager, Social Services Director, Operations Director, Business Mgr. or the Area Commander.
- Supervise the evacuation of residents during fire drills or fire emergencies.
What we are looking for in you:
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate with one year’s experience in the human services field preferred.
- Work experience in a residential setting preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Capable of understanding and interpreting the mission of The Salvation Army and its shelter programs. The position requires a moderate amount of standing, stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting. Ability to communicate effectively with other people. The position requires indoor office/shelter environment.
