Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:
Supervises, plans, schedules, and monitors the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of buildings ensuring total operation and maintenance of the building automation, communications, security systems; diagnoses minor repairs for electrical, plumbing or other general maintenance issues for the center and other facilities of the Adult Rehabilitation Centers. Strong mechanical aptitude and a working knowledge of HVAC and controls, electrical, mechanical, security, telephone, and building automation systems; ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; participates in more difficult repair work; maintains an inventory of all Salvation Army property and administers a departmental budget.
Oversees property maintenance including, but not limited to, Center and Store lawn maintenance and landscaping; all store maintenance, sprinkler/irrigation system; kitchen equipment maintenance, etc. Performs minor electrical, plumbing, and general repairs at the Center and stores. Observes contractors performing various facility maintenance activities; monitors work in progress and ensures repairs are complete and accurate within established policies and procedures. Drives to various Center locations or other locations to perform maintenance assigned job responsibilities; provides maintenance records as required by Administrator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Broad knowledge of the procedures and methods of repairing various appliances, electronics, furniture and other products. Ability to successfully participate in the work of repairing appliances, electronics, furniture and other products. Ability to read and comprehend manuals and written instructions. Knowledge, skills and ability to successfully communicate, both verbally and in writing, in the English language.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, and two years of experience repairing various appliances, electronics, furniture and other similar products and some experience supervising other employees performing the same or similar work or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Valid State Driver’s License.
HVAC Certification Preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Moderate physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying heavy weights of appliances, electronics, furniture and other products on a frequent basis. Must be able to push or pull heavy loads, over 100 pounds, of various appliances, electronics, furniture and other products on an occasional basis. Work requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and some climbing 75% to 100% of the work time.
