The role of Maintenance Helper supports the overall goals and strategies of the Maintenance Department to ensure each plant's operational efficiency and effectiveness. Maintenance Helpers, through their own independent and collaborative support on projects, address emergent and plans accordingly for preventive maintenance throughout the plant's functional departments.

Essential Functions
•    Perform routine maintenance duties and assigned work orders according to proper procedures and protocols regarding the attached non-inclusive list:
•    Painting
•    General repairs including but not limited to:
•    Minor electrical issues 
•    Leaks (e.g. water, oil carbon black, etc.)
•    General plumbing and PVC
•    Powder pumps
•    Hopper cars and truck
•    Bolt and unbolt flanges
•    Reactor sections
•    Clean and maintain interior/exterior of the plant and machinery and equipment including but not limited to:
•    Spills (e.g. Carbon Black, Oil, etc.)
•    Equipment screens (e.g. water, oil, etc.)
•    Installing filter bags regularly and timely
•    Replacing equipment filters (e.g. air compressors, air conditioning units, etc.) regularly and timely
•    Routinely examine and inspect the safe and functional operation of:
•    Plant walking surfaces
•    Maintenance equipment (e.g. ladders, tools, etc.)
•    Operations equipment (e.g. powder pumps, screens, filters, etc.)
•    Ensure the safety of contractors, employees, etc. by performing fire watch and confined space hole watch
•    Disassemble damaged and broken equipment (e.g. gears, shafts, pulleys, belts, etc.) so that it can be more easily repaired and reassemble pieces after repair work has been successfully completed
•    Assist in various inventory control exercises to ensure the proper tracking and accounting of Maintenance Department's parts and equipment counts
•    Ensure the timely and regular completion of all assigned preventative maintenance (PM) activities and task and adhere to and encourage alignment with the overall PM plant of the department
•    Provide support and assistance to the maintenance teams as well as contracted workers in completing short and long-term projects
•    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Education and Experience
•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills
•    Consistent and persistent application of positive collaboration with various individuals and groups
•    Intermediate level ability to learn and master new skills and processes
•    Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents
•    Tenacity to accurately follow instructions from supervisors
•    Functional experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
•    Functional experience safely operating man-lifts, cranes, forklifts, street sweepers, lugger trucks, zero turn mowers, etc.

Preferred Education and Experience
•    6+ months experience within a mechanical or maintenance department
•    6+ months experience in a manufacturing environment
•    Functional experience with a variety of personal hand/power tools (e.g. drills, wrenches, saws, compressors, etc.)
