Job Summary:
An Power Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of electrical power distribution networks. This role involves coordinating with various teams to ensure that power systems are functioning optimally and meet all regulatory requirements. The Electric Power Superintendent must be adept in problem-solving, project management, and team leadership, as they will be the key point of contact for critical decisions regarding power distribution and system improvements.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervising installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power distribution systems
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Coordinating with engineering teams for system upgrades and expansions
- Managing budgets and project timelines for power distribution projects
- Conducting regular inspections and audits of power systems
- Responding to emergency situations and power outages
- Training and mentoring subordinate staff
- Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures
- Liaising with government agencies, utility companies, and contractors
- Preparing detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities
- Overseeing inventory and procurement of necessary equipment and materials
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive experience in power system operations and management
- Proven track record in project management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools
- Continuing education and certifications in electrical power systems
- In-depth knowledge of electrical power systems and components
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory standards
- Proficiency in using computer software for data analysis and reporting
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical power distribution or similar field
