Fleet Mechanic

LeCom Utility Contractors has an opening for an experienced Fleet Mechanic at our location in Warren, Michigan. Our fleet includes pick-ups, bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, trailers, and other related utility construction equipment.

Basic Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as a mechanic. Freightliner, Cummins, Altec, Terex, Chevrolet, Vermeer experience a plus.
• ANSI & Dielectric Inspection Certificates a plus.
• Overtime will be required at times and schedules will vary some weeks. Must be flexible.
• Road calls will be required as needed.
• Must have your own tools.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within the probationary period. 
• Must be self-sufficient and driven with regular and predictable attendance, with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to Company Safety Policies
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English and respond to emails professionally.

Job Description/Duties

• Routine preventative maintenance and service of fleet vehicles.
• Accurate documentation of all PM and equipment repairs.

• Perform inspections on trucks and trailers to assure vehicles are DOT compliant, safe and road worthy.
• Some welding and minor body repair.
• Diagnose and repair of hydraulic systems, gas and diesel engines, truck chassis, air/ electric brakes systems, and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Evaluate and complete equipment repairs in a timely manner.
• Maintain shop area in a neat and orderly fashion to insure a safe work environment.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
