Operations - Manager, Construction
This is a Wireless Construction role. Must be local to central MA. Verizon and T-Mobile experience is required. As a Construction Manager, you are responsible for overseeing all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects from inception to completion. You will lead a team of construction professionals to produce high-quality work, in a safety-minded environment. You are responsible for ensuring successful project completion, which meets or exceeds client, industry and company standards and you ensure the field crews do the same.
Specific Responsibilities:
Manage Verizon and T-Mobile site builds for new site builds, carrier upgrades and small cell equipment installations.
Be responsible for job site safety, build schedule and cost controls and assisting crews with any troubleshooting and construction issues that may arise.
Interpret site documentation to determine the correct scope of work and pro-actively identify any build concerns and ensure correct material is available for the scope of work.
Work with Project Manager(s) to ensure cycle times are met and control build costs.
Act as primary liaison to external customers such as tower landlords and local jurisdictions among others.
Schedule the crews, identify and delegate the crews to start their work, review project timelines and expectations, and supervise work performance and job quality.
Promote safe work environment, holding crews accountable for safe work practices.
Prepare and interpret drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications. Identify and resolve any blueprint issues prior to and during construction.
Identify and supervise subcontractors to perform their tasks, inspect, and/or bill any relevant personnel/contractors.
Take responsibility for all personnel and any vehicle or equipment in their control.
Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers and/or customers.
Participate in estimating and bidding projects, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- You recognize the importance of Safety in day-to-day operations.
- You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Construction Management.
- You have 3-5 years managing telecom construction projects.
- You have knowledge of telecom construction industry Wireless Build Projects.
- You enjoy and excel at problem-solving; are able to troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
- You have previous site management experience while maintaining a good relationship with client and suppliers.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Work, Excel and Project and the ability to learn custom software.
